What is a Bat Mitzvah & Why is it Important?
A Bat Mitzvah (or in this case, a Bea Mitzvah!) is a significant milestone in Jewish tradition, marking a girl's transition to adolescence at the age of 13. This ceremony celebrates her commitment to Jewish values, responsibilities, and her role in our community.
The presence of family, friends, and community members (ie you) is essential, as it reinforces the bonds that support and nurture Bea's growth. We warmly invite you to join us in celebrating our daughter's Bat Mitzvah, a momentous occasion that symbolizes her growth, achievements, and the beginning of her spiritual journey.
Your presence will add to the joy of this special day, as we come together to honor her and our shared values of faith, family, and community.
Friday evening's service is the first ceremony (evening Shabbat services) that Bea will participate in. We understand most guests will not be able to attend this part of the event, but if you're able to make it - we welcome you to join us.
Saturday is the bat mitzvah ceremony itself. Bea will begin by reading from the Torah, the sacred Jewish text, a portion she has diligently prepared for over the past year. She will also deliver a D'var Torah, a speech where she will share her insights and reflections on the text.
The service will include prayers, blessings, and traditional songs that reflect the values and spirit of our community. Throughout the ceremony, Bea will demonstrate her understanding of Jewish teachings and her commitment to these values.
After the service, we will gather for a joyous and fun celebration with food, music, games, and dancing, allowing us to come together as a community to honor this important milestone in her life. We are excited to share this special day with you, and look forward to your presence.

Bea's Mitzvah Project
With this milestone, comes an opportunity for Tikkun Olum:
Repairing the world one good deed at a time.
Fashion and helping people locally have always been an important part of my life. For my Bat Mitzvah project, I have collected over two full carloads of gently used clothing for the St Francis Center in Redwood City, and will be looking to expand those efforts in the new schoolyear at my school.
St Francis Center does amazing work for local residents, letting people with unmet needs get the services they need. The clothes I collected go to the St Francis "store" that lets people shop for the clothes they want in a store setting, but with residents able to get the clothes they need and want at no cost. It's a really wonderful organization.
